Adam and Eve were both naked, and they felt no shame |

(Genesis 2:25) |
Alexander the Great built one of the greatest empires of the ancient world, stretching all the way from Greece down to Egypt, and across what is now Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan to India. It was in India that Alexander encountered gymnosophists, naked philosophers, whose wisdom is said to have impressed him greatly. Alexander should have been a good judge of wisdom, since from about the age of 13 he was taught by the Greek philosopher Aristotle.
Both Aristotle and Alexander show the value of looking for wisdom wherever it can be found. Aristotle studied, and wrote about, areas as diverse as physics, biology, psychology, economics, politics, music, poetry, theater and ethics. He combined his own scientific observations, research and thinking with the philosophy of his teacher Plato, and Plato's teacher Socrates.
The naked philosophers we need today are open, honest and unashamed. They are open about the limitations of their thinking and experience, honest to themselves and others about their own emotions and desires, and unashamed not just of their bodies, but their minds, too. They see good in all things, and seek wisdom wherever it can be found, whether in philosophy, science or religion.
Almost all modern philosophers are useless. They have no wisdom to help solve global problems like political polarization, nationalism and ecological destruction. Not do they have anything useful to say about how individuals like you or me can deal with feelings of personal inadequacy, relationship difficulties, or any of the other stressful things we experience.
Is it a ridiculous dream to imagine that there are solutions to our personal and global problem, or does real wisdom exist out there, waiting to be found?
This website describes a solution which has been suggested by religious people across time and around the globe, by many people who consider themselves "spiritual but not religious", and even by modern atheists like Barbara Ehrenreich and Sam Harris. This is the idea of Spiritual Enlightenment, often called Spiritual Awakening, a state of consciousness as separate from and superior to ordinary wakefulness as ordinary wakefulness is separate from and superior to being asleep.
In this state of consciousness, a person experiences profound euphoria, a powerful sense of wonder, and complete peace. It is a state entirely free of any stress, but where the person is highly alert and able to behave appropriately. The state is brought about and creates feelings of love, wisdom and power which leave permanent effects in the person who experiences them. It is truly a mind-altering experience, and the only one powerful enough to permanently cure our individual and collective psychological ills.
So get naked! There's no organization to join, no doctrines to agree to and this best of all experiences costs no money! Use the information on this website to take your own journey toward Enlightenment - accept the advice which seems helpful and reject the advice which seems wrong, or just not right for you at this time.
